Educational Philosophy and Mission
The Department of Urology is dedicated to providing a rich and varied educational experience for residents representing all domains of urology.
The Department of Urology’s mission is to provide the educational environment, resources and support for individuals seeking residency training in urology. In order to achieve these aspirations the department has developed a scholarly environment emphasizing a rational, balanced approach to urologic problems and one devoted to the education of the urologist. The faculty believes that resident should acquire a broad base of knowledge in all the major domains of urology. Rotations at various institutions are based on an educational rationale to ensure this objective. This department offers a broad base of adult and pediatric urology, both male and female.
The program is able to provide a wide experience in a variety of areas of urology, in addition to common urological problems. These include such areas as laparoscopy, pediatric urology, urological oncology, urodynamics, traumas, renal transplantation and male and female urology. The faculty believes that it is essential for residents to be in a structured learning environment; therefore, department conferences are attended by faculty and residents. These conferences are well defined, regularly scheduled and includes all aspects of urology.
