Prerequisites from first two years of medical education curriculum:

IMC 502 Fundamentals I 7.2 cr
IMC 504 Fundamentals II 3.8 cr
IMC 510 GI & Metabolism 5.5 cr
IMC 514 Musculoskeletal 2.5 cr
IMC 602 Cardiovascular 7.2 cr
IMC 606-610 Neuroscience I and II 3.8 cr
    36.0 cr

Required:

ES 502 Neuromuscular & Metabolic Responses to Exercise 3.0 cr
ES 503 Cardiopulmonary Responses to Exercise 3.0 cr
NTR 503 Nutrition and Health 3.0 cr
NTR 505 Exercise Nutrition 2.0 cr
BCH 503 Biochemistry Principles 4.0 cr
ES 598 Dissertation 12.0 cr*
MST 601 MSTP Research Seminar 1.0 cr
(Required for all semesters of the MSTP)

*A minimum of 12 credit hours of dissertation credit (ES598) is required. Doctoral students are expected to spend a minimum of four semesters involved in laboratory research.


Remaining credit hours will be selected to fulfill competencies in statistics, scientific and grant writing, and research ethics.
