Conference Objectives The goal of this conference is to update the participants on the latest advances in the diagnosis & management of a wide array of psychiatric disorders. Through lectures by internationally renowned speakers followed by workshops & small group discussion on various tracks, complex data will be translated into simple clinically relevant information that will be useful to the practicing clinician. At the completion of this activity, the participant should be able to:
1. Outline the clinically relevant findings from the Systematic Treatment Enhancement Program for Bipolar Disorder (STEP-BD).
2. Explain current research on the role of early vulnerability, predisposition, risk & prevention of anxiety.
3. Translate the recent work on the use of medications to treat personality disorders.
4. Learn about the recent pharmacological & psychosocial research that has improved the treatment of schizophrenia.
5. Describe the relationship of ADHD & Substance Abuse.
6. Summarize the neurological evidence for psychotherapeutic interventions & understand the different types of memory & their implications in clinical practice.
7. Diagnose & treat neurodegenerative dementia.
