Fred M. Snell, Professor Emeritus and former Chairman of the Department of Biophysics at the University at Buffalo, passed away on Wed, November 5, 2003. He was within six days of his 82 nd birthday at the time of his death. Dr. Snell was widely recognized for his pioneering biophysical studies on membrane transport and the application of nonequilibrium thermodynamics to biological problems, and for his significant leadership within the Biophysical Society. {read more}
