The Buffalo Niagara International
Airport is about a 20 minute drive from The Women & Children's Hospital
of Buffalo. At least 14 different airlines fly into Buffalo
from major airports across the US. Many of these airlines offer
discounted fares: New York City to
Buffalo for as little as $49, Miami to
Buffalo for as little as $99, and Seattle to Buffalo for as
little as $100. Listen for advertisements on the radio, check
out your local newspaper or call your travel agent to get the
best deal on your trip to Buffalo.
Here is a partial list of
airlines and toll free numbers, should you wish to call any of
these airlines directly:
Additional information on the
above carriers can be found at
BuffaloAirport.com.
Once you get to the Buffalo
Niagara Airport, you will head toward the front of the building and go
down the escalator to the Baggage Claim area. Airport taxis
will be standing by if you haven't made any advance taxi
reservations. If you use an airport taxi to come downtown, plan
on spending at least $20 one way. It is strongly recommended that you
make arrangements ahead of time. Call ITA Shuttle Service at
(800) 551-9369, local number (716) 633-8294. A one-way trip
will cost you $11 or you can prepay for a round trip for $18.
In the event you are staying at one of the hotels that provide
airport shuttle service, you can reach their shuttle vans by
picking up the appropriate courtesy phone in the Baggage Claim
area; hotel shuttles usually run about every half hour or so.
Please verify this information with your respective hotel.
Other Modes of
Transportation
Greyhound Bus Service is
available to Buffalo. There is a bus terminal in downtown
Buffalo, approximately 4 miles from The Women & Children's Hospital of
Buffalo.
Amtrak Train Service is also available
to Buffalo. There are two terminals in Buffalo (Depew Station,
which is out by the Buffalo Airport (20 minutes away by taxi and
Exchange Street Station, which is downtown, approximately 4
miles from The Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo). Not all trains
stop at the Exchange Street Station. So if you choose to come
by train, make sure you know which Buffalo terminal you'll be
using.
Getting Around
the City
Buffalo's Metro Rail and Bus
services offer additional ways to get
around the downtown city area. The Metro Rail runs
along/beneath Main Street from
downtown outbound to the State University of New York at Buffalo
(South Campus) where the medical school is located. Bus service
is available about every 10-15 minutes on Delaware Avenue
Northbound. When you get on the bus, tell the driver you want
to get off at Hodge Avenue. A short walk on Hodge will bring
you to the 140 Hodge Avenue entrance to our office for your
interview. Some hotels will bring you over to the
Hospital for your interview. If possible, have them drop you
off at the 140 Hodge entrance instead of the main Hospital
entrance. If you choose to come by taxi, you'll have to call
ahead of time. Unlike other large cities, you can't hail a cab
from the curb. Liberty Cab
is familiar with the Hospital and can be reached online or
877-7111. Also, feel free to ask the hotel if they have
discount arrangements with any of the taxi services for their
guests.
Another option, of course, is to
drive here for your interview. We are conveniently located,
with easy access from major highways. Directions from the New
York State Thruway, Interstate 90, may be found on this site
along with a map to direct you to our office. To give you an
idea of driving times, here are some estimated drive times:
From Boston, MA 8 hours, Pittsburgh, PA 5 hours, Rochester, NY 1
hour, Syracuse, NY 2 hours, Albany, NY 5 hours, Cleveland, OH 4
hours, Erie, PA 2 hours. If you are coming from New York City,
it's a distance of about 400 miles, so
plan on driving about 9-10 hours.
We'll see you at your interview.
