Excellence
in pediatric residency training depends on three components:
- The
availability of adequate clinical material.
- A
faculty with a broad representation of subspecialists and
generalists who are committed to teaching.
- Colleagues
eager to learn and care for children.
The Women & Children's Hospital of Buffalo is
a regional pediatric medical center that draws patients from an
area with a population of 1.3 million - a patient base that is
unparalleled in quantity, quality, and variety. A full-time
faculty of 85 pediatricians representing all major pediatric
subspecialty areas is augmented by a clinical faculty of 145
community pediatricians. The pediatric faculty is complimented
by pediatric radiologists, pediatric surgeons
and neurosurgeons, pediatric otolaryngologists, pediatric
urologists, pediatric ophthalmologists and perinatologists.
The Department of Pediatrics comprises 16
divisions; all actively engaged in research and dedicated to
excellence in patient care and teaching. Much of the research
conducted within the Department has received national acclaim.
The divisions function in unison as a Department under the
guidance and tutelage of the Department Chairman. |
