Laboratory research is conducted on campus, at BGH and at VAMC. Lung Biology Program (Dr. J. Lwebuga-Mukasa)
investigates cellular mechanisms of lung disease. The Pulmonary Sleep Research Group (Drs. El-Solh,
B.J.B. Grant, MJ Mador and A. Mishra) is part of the Center for Sleep Related
Respiratory Disorders is located in the VAMC. The Respiratory Muscles Laboratory (Dr. M.J.
Mador and Dr. T. Kufel) is located at VAMC. The COPD Bacteriology Laboratory is
located in the Research Building, VAMC (Dr. S. Sethi in collaboration with the
Division of Infectious Diseases).
Clinical research programs are conducted at all four medical centers: BGH,
ECMC, RPCI and VAMC: the JP Nolan Clinical
Research Center (Dr A.A. El-Solh, Dr. B.J.B. Grant, Dr L. Pineda and Dr. A.
Mishra) is based at ECMC and the
Epidemiological research in lung disease is conducted (Dr. B.J.B. Grant and Dr. A. Mishra) in collaboration with the Department of Social and Preventive Medicine. The Center for Asthma and Environmental Exposure (Dr. J. Lwebuga-Mukasa) focuses in environmental research in lung disease is based at BGH.
