Each of the teaching hospitals has also developed their own teaching programs and conferences.
Erie County Medical Center
At the Erie County Medical Center, there is a weekly 7:00 to 8:30 am Indications Conference, and follow-up Fracture Conference. From 7:00 to 7:30 am, interesting fractures from the previous week are shown and discussed. From 7:30- 8:30 am all the orthopaedic cases to be performed in the upcoming week are reviewed and discussed. Once a month at this conference, Quality Assurance is held, with the residents writing up all complications and deaths. These cases are then reviewed along with the appropriate x-rays. The cases are then discussed, analyzed, and recommendations for prevention of similar problems are made.
Dr. Mark Anders has instituted a 7:00 am review of all Emergency Room cases from the previous night with the resident staff at the Erie County Medical Center. (7:00 to 7:30 am)

Buffalo General Hospital
The Buffalo General Hospital has a weekly conference on Wednesday mornings from 7:30 to 8:30 am. Once a month it is a Quality Assurance conference, Mortality and Morbidity is discussed with the resident preparing the presentation, and recommendations are made for prevention of the problem. An interesting case conference is held once a month. Indication conference is held once a month to review big cases for the upcoming month, and once a month there is a didactic presentation of a subject chosen and prepared by a resident.
Tumor Conference is held from 6:45 to 7:30 am by Dr. Brian McGrath on Wednesday morning at the Buffalo General Hospital (Tumor Topics). Dr. Kenneth Krackow, Chief of Orthopaedics at the Buffalo General Hospital, also has a Journal Club held on Monday from 6:30 to 7:30 am, where articles from the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery are discussed with the residents. Tuesday mornings from 6:30 to 7:00 am, there is a Spine Conference to review interesting spine cases and pathology with Dr. Christopher Hamill.

The Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo
At the Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo, there is a weekly indications conference from 7:30 to 8:30 on Wednesday morning, and there is also a 7:00 to 8:00 am Journal Club reviewing pediatric literature. Quality assurance is held once a month with review of the complications and mortality for the month.
