| The Erie County Medical Center is western New York's leading trauma, burn, and rehabilitation center. Initially founded in 1909 as a hospital for contagious diseases (known then as Buffalo City Hospital) ECMC is the only designated adult regional trauma center in western New York, and continues to report the state's highest survival rates. |
| The Department of Orthopaedics at ECMC is recognized as the area's premier center for the comprehensive care of patients with severe disorders and injuries of the musculoskeletal system.
