Parosteal OGS

This young adult patient developed a typical parosteal OGS of the distal femur in a very common location for this low-grade OGS.
Gross photo made after high thigh amputation and sectioned in the Bone Lab.

This neoplasm is a surface lesion without extension into the medullary canal.
The smooth periphery of the soft tissue extension of this lesion also suggests slow growth.
This patient was without evidence of disease at 20 years following amputation.

Learning Issues:

The architecture of a perosteal osteosarcoma suggests the biologically slow growth of this lesion.
