The Ross
Eye Institute is a unique and nationally innovative collaboration
among the Department of Ophthalmology of the University at Buffalo
School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, the Elizabeth Pierce
Olmsted, M.D. Center for the Visually Impaired, and University
Ophthalmology Services. Envisioned as the premier research, ophthalmologic
education and subspecialty eye care program in Western New York,
this Institute will include a nationally unique state-of-art,
university and human services linked campus that will provide
a continuum of integrated prevention, treatment and rehabilitation
services to individuals of all ages in need of holistic vision
care; as well as, new research facilities at the medical school.
Specially, the Ross Eye
Institute will be a true Center of Excellence that will include:
• Comprehensive prevention services that include community
education of medical providers and clients, early medical intervention,
and screen programs.
• World-class research aimed at understanding and elimination
eye disease and the disability that comes with vision loss.
• State-of-art diagnostic and treatment services of all medical
and surgical diseases of the eye and visual system.
• Assessment, intervention, rehabilitation, education, employment
and human services for individuals of all ages at all levels of
visual impairment.
• Superior education to medical students, resident physicians,
graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, community physicians of
all types, and allied health and social workers.

we are recruiting academic clinician scientists with training in
glaucoma, surgical/medical retina, medical retina/uveitis, and pediatric
ophthalmology with a genuine commitment to a clinical or basic research
