The
Registration Process For Medical Students
Students
are responsible for their own registration. You will not be able
to register if you have a checkstop so please check on this before
registration begins. General Information: Registration at UB can
be accomplished in two ways:
- BIRD
( Billing, Inquiry, Registration, Drop/Add ) is the touch tone
system, which in addition to course registration, can be used
to learn grades, listen to your class schedule, or accept financial
aid.
BIRD registration phone number : 645-7800.
BIRD HELP LINE 829-2370.
If you need to create a new PIN number call the BIRD help line.

- SOAR
( Student On-line Access to Records ) is the web based student
records system, which can be used for course registration as well
as to obtain grades and view/print your class schedule.

Registration
Process:
Each student will register using either of the two methods stated
above. Completing this process will also satisfy the Financial Aid
and Student Accounts (billing) offices. Registration takes place
in early November and early April for the following semester. OME
will notify you of the specific dates as they become available.
You will need your PIN number to register. Failure to register could
result in late charges (that you will be responsible for) and exclusion
from your desired courses. If you have any problems or questions
with the registration process please contact the OME.

to students each semester before the process begins.
Address
Changes:
Please remember to keep the OME and Records and Registration up-to-date
with your current addresses: permanent, local and emergency contact.
This is extremely important, as administrative and academic offices
at UB depend upon our office to provide current address information
when important notices need to be sent to you. If your permanent
address is incorrect, and you don't receive your University bills,
you could be subject to late payment penalties. Simply click on
the "Student
Information" menu on the Records
and Registration web site for procedures for submitting an address
change or submit the change to OME; our offices share information
so you need only notify one office of the change.
Special
Notes:
- Elective
Choices Course descriptions of the Elective Choices for the academic
year can be found on the OME curriculum
page under CourseBook.
- The
registration numbers for Elective courses can be found in the
Fall
Graduate and Professional Class Schedule.
- Ambulatory
Experiences A list of Approved Ambulatory Experiences can be found
in the CourseBook
web page.
- Once
you have registered for your chosen course, the OME should be
notified by returning the Required Ambulatory
Care Experience form. <http://www.smbs.buffalo.edu/ome/form/ambulatory.htm>
Failure to notify the OME of your choice before the course begins
will not fulfill the ambulatory requirement.
