Medical College Admission Test
Applicants for admission to the First-Year Class must take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) no later than the fall of the year preceding your planned admission date. We only accept MCAT’s taken within the three years before applying. For MCAT registration material, please visit http://www.aamc.org/students/mcat

American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS)
The School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences participates in the American Medical College Application Service (AMCAS). Applications can only be submitted on the web at http://www.aamc.org. Applications for admission to the First-Year Class of our School of Medicine must be submitted to AMCAS by November 1st. Applications can be filed as early as June 1. Secondary application material must be received in Admissions by December 15th. Early submission of applications is strongly recommended. Students applying to the M.D./Ph.D. program (http://www.smbs.buffalo.edu/rbe/mstp) are encouraged to complete the MD/PhD applications by December 1st.

AMCAS Financial Assistance Program
The AMCAS Financial Assistance Program is provided by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) for applicants whose inability to pay the AMCAS service fee prevents them from applying to medical school. Complete details regarding this are provided on the AMCAS website at http://www.aamc.org

Application Fee
A money order payable to the University at Buffalo for $65.00 to cover the application processing fee will be requested by us after we receive your application from AMCAS. The processing procedure cannot begin until the fee is received. It is important to print your name and AMCAS ID number on the money order. Personal checks are not accepted.

Credentials
When AMCAS has completed its processing procedures, the applicant is sent a Transmittal Notification indicating the schools to which applications have been sent. Upon receipt of the AMCAS application, our Admissions Office will acknowledge receipt and further explain our procedures in our supplemental application.

Transcripts
AMCAS procedures require applicants to submit all official transcripts directly to AMCAS for verification. The application materials forwarded to the Medical School by AMCAS contain the verified academic record and we consider this record sufficient for our purposes and do not wish applicants to forward transcripts directly to us. Only if a candidate is accepted to the entering class will the Committee request that he/she bear the expense of submitting additional transcripts and then only final official transcripts for inclusion in his/her Medical School student file.
