Faculty and Research
The Witebsky Center
The Witebsky Center for Microbial Pathogenesis and Immunology comprises a group of research scientists -- 24 Principal Investigators, plus their students, post-doctoral fellows, and laboratory staff -- who share a common interest in understanding the molecular mechanisms of infectious diseases and host defenses against them.
The Witebsky Center is interdepartmental and independent of the constituent academic departments where faculty hold their primary appointments. The Center is self-governing, operating in accordance with a set of rules established at its inception. A Director (Mark O’Brien 2008-09) and Associate Director (Terry Connell 2008-09) are elected from among the faculty to serve two-year terms.
