Admissions requirements

  • Baccalaureate or equivalent, with thorough preparation in biology, chemistry, and physics
  • Graduate Record Examination (General)
  • International applicants must submit TOEFL (minimum score required)

Students are admitted by the Department only in the Fall semester and apply to the program through the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences (IGPBS). Whenever possible, a personal interview is arranged by request of the Department.

Each student needs to submit the following:

  1. Completed on-line application form
  2. Application fee $50 (non-refundable) U.S. funds Checks and money orders should be made out to University at Buffalo. You may also make credit card payments
  3. All official undergraduate and graduate transcripts
  4. Letters of recommendation. three minimum
  5. Personal statement of interest
  6. Standardized test scores (GRE General, TOEFL*) *required for all international applications.

Application Deadlines:
Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible before April 1 for the following Fall semester.
