MediShare International

MediShare is a comprehensive program of the Medical Amateur Radio Council (MARCO) that provides opportunities for members worldwide to SHARE their talents, expertise, surplus medica/dental equipment, medicines and supplies to clinics, hospitals and dispensaries, especially in developing and Third World nations as well as in areas on this continent and worldwide that sustain natural disasters.

Part A: Equipment and Supplies

Members who have any surplus medical, hospital or dental equipment, pharmaceuticals, and supplies can offer the material to the program, which can find a new "home" for it in worthy institution. Nearly all equipment can be placed provided it is in good working condition or can be repaired at nominal cost and provided spare parts, if appropriate, can be still obtained. Surplus, unused pharmaceuticals and unopened supplies of all kinds can be used, as well as medical/dental/nursing text books under ten years old. Even amateur radio equipment of all kinds can usually be placed in facilities that have licensed amateur radio operators on staff.

Part B: Personal Service Opportunities abound for health providers of all kinds to serve as short term replacements (locum tenens) for medical personnel going on home or sick leave, or to evaluate and accredit hospitals, clinics and dispensaries world -wide which are waiting to receive donated medical equipment and supplies. Or you might wish to be a part of a medical/dental team created to solve a particular or unique need. These appointments can be from one day to two years in length and are available in many countries in all continents.
