Geriatrics and Gerontology have had a presence
at the State University of New York at Buffalo
for over 20 years.
In recognition of the wide diversity of activities,
interests and skills embraced within the field
of geriatrics, the program is highly individualized.
Candidates are selected on the basis of their
clinical recognition of the interdisciplinary
nature of geriatrics and need for teachers in
this field; we seek people with interdisciplinary
skills and also individuals who are particularly
interested in the teaching of students, house
officers and members of health-related professions.
The program interfaces with nursing homes, tertiary-care
hospitals and community-based settings and has
a faculty of ten geriatricians and one Ph.D. social
scientist.
