Welcome to the University at Buffalo Division of Cardiovascular Medicine. The tripartite mission of the Division is to excel in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with heart and vascular disease, train the next generation of cardiologists and advance fundamental scientific knowledge through cutting edge translational research. We currently have 19 faculty members with broad clinical expertise covering all aspects of cardiovascular care. The inpatient clinical program and hospital based clinics are focused at the Buffalo General Hospital and Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. We follow outpatients at the UBMD clinical practice. Teaching responsibilities encompass the education of medical students, postgraduate trainees in medicine and twelve Fellows in the subspecialty of cardiovascular disease. Our research portfolio includes major multicenter, as well as investigator initiated clinical trials, translational bench to bedside investigation and basic preclinical studies. In early 2012, our programs will move to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus in the new UB Clinical and Translational Research Center (CTRC) located immediately above the new Global Heart and Vascular Institute (GHVI). This unique new environment will further enhance the interaction of cardiovascular specialists, scientists and biomedical engineers to develop state-of-the-art approaches to advance the care and treatment of patients with heart disease.
