Our Mission

The mission of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine is to provide students and residents with a comprehensive educational program. We combine clinical and research training to prepare trainees for careers in academic medicine while providing quality patient care.

The training program in cardiovascular diseases is designed to prepare individuals who have completed approved Internal Medicine Residencies for a career in cardiology. Instruction in all aspects of cardiologic practice is provided including cardiac catheterization, 2-D, M-mode, and Doppler echocardiography, exercise stress testing, nuclear cardiology, pediatric cardiology, clinical cardiac electrophysiology, coronary care, and consultative cardiology. In addition, elective time is available in cardiac surgery, transesophageal and stress echocardiography, cardiac transplantation and other disciplines related to cardiology.
