Message from the Chair:

On behalf of the faculty, residents, students, and staff of the Department we welcome you to the website of the Department of Medicine at the UB School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. I am sure you will find the information here to be both informative and useful.

The Department is the largest clinical department in the School of Medicine, with over 140 full-time faculty. Our mission is "to be recognized for excellence in teaching, research and patient care." We teach in all four years of the medical school curriculum as well as having excellent residency and fellowship training programs. We are also active in both local and national post-graduate (CME) education. Our research funding has increased by over 85% in the last six years and totals over 13 million dollars. We are actively involved with patient care with several hospital systems as well as at our own free-standing ambulatory sites. Patients in the entire seven-county Western New York area seek our services because of our reputation of excellence.
