Notes/Description:
“In the Studio (Self-Portrait) 1996, the artist’s right arm is broken to pieces. Though he is right handed he is drawing using his left arm. The source of his illness is indicated by a pink smear of oil paint on his forehead. The eyes are covered in obliterating pencil marks, a blue streak shuts off the mouth giving the artist a mute appearance.” (Label copy from 2008 Chicago Cultural Center Exhibition: http://www.williamutermohlen.org/index.php/artwork/30-about/exhibitions)
