Welcome
to our web site, the University at Buffalo School of Medicine and
Biomedical
Sciences, Department of Family Medicine Office of Medical Student
Education. Our directors and staff are committed to the highest standards
for teaching and learning clinical Family Medicine. Family physician
faculty are active teachers in all four years of medical school education.
Courses administered by the Office of Medical Student Education include
The Clinical Practice of
Medicine (CPM) Year
One; Third Year Clerkship in Family Medicine; and electives
in Primary Ambulatory Care, Sub-Internship,
Independent Study, Research, Cross-Cultural Medicine, and Faith
in Medicine. We are proud to contribute to the students’ journey
of becoming compassionate and skilled physicians.
Our program also offers a paid eight week summer research opportunity
for first year UB medical students. Students are paired with
a family medicine sponsor to assist with the various stages of
the faculty research project; i.e., develop survey instruments,
data collection and analysis, project presentation, and preparation
and submission of manuscripts.
Medical students can
become a member of the Family
Medicine Interest Group (FMIG), a student directed
organization that fosters interest in the discipline by sponsoring
activities which promote awareness, serve the community,
and enhance education.
