Jefferson Family Medicine Center
The Jefferson Family Medicine Center opened in November 2005 and
is our newest residency site. This track of our residency program
serving Buffalo's East Side neighborhoods has moved twice since it's
inception as our first UB Family Medicine residency training site
in 1969. The center’s staff is committed to providing comprehensive
health care to the surrounding community of mostly low-income African-American
families. This community based ambulatory facility has thirteen
examination rooms and one procedure room. This busy practice exposes
residents to the full spectrum of urban health problems, with a particular
focus on the health consequences of the medically underserved. A
number of procedures are performed on site, including flexible sigmoidoscopy,
colposcopy, cryotherapy, non-stress testing and minor surgery. An
attending gastroenterologist does weekly GI consults and trains residents
in flex-sig.
We have a strong quality-improvement focus and community focus. We
are always striving to make ourselves better and we trust that you,
as residents, will be instrumental in that process.
