Microscopy

Confocal and Two Photon Imaging

Zeiss LSM-510 meta NLO 

Multi-channel Laser Scanning Confocal Imaging System with Argon, DPSS and diode lasers for a total of 6 excitation laser lines. Multispectral imaging with Meta detector plus two emission filter PMT detector based channels. Operates primarily on an Zeiss Axiovert 200M (inverted) microscope, but can be configured on the Zeiss Axio Imager Z1 (upright) under certain circumstances. Microscope operation is fully computer controlled.  Live cell confocal imaging is available on the Axiovert 200M through the addition of environmental chambers to control temperature, CO₂ and humidity. System is configured for multi-photon imaging using a Coherent Chameleon Ultra II Ti/Sapphire laser and external non-descanned detectors.

Fluorescence and Bright Field Imaging

Zeiss Axio Imager Z1 and Zeiss Axio Observer Fluorescence Microscopy Systems with high resolution color digital (Zeiss Hrc) and cooled, low light level CCD cameras (Zeiss Mrm and Hamamatsu ORCA ER). These microscopes are computer controlled with motorized stages, focus, objective and fluorescence filter turrets. Zeiss AxioVision software controls the microscopes allowing multi-dimensional data acquisition (multiple fluorescence channels, Z-stacks, time lapse and mosaics). Both microscopes are equipped with the Apotome structured illumination system for confocal-like optical sectioning.
