| Office of Emergency Medical Educational Technology (OEMET)
The Office of Emergency Medical Educational Technology, a division of the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, NY, is charged with the creation of high quality, timely, and concise multimedia, distance and simulation educational content.
The focus areas for content developed by this office include:
- Delivery of Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Care
- Bioterrorism and Weapons of Mass Destruction
- Public Health
- Telemedicine and Telehealth Services
We achieve our educational goals by utilizing a variety of the latest technology and services available such as:
- Interactive DVD production
- Web streaming of educational content
- Distance education
- Virtual reality and patient simulation
- Web archiving of content
- Just In Time delivery of educational content
There are currently several initiatives underway to obtain the funding to provide the following services in the very near future:
- Develop Web Education Delivery System (WEDS) for Emergency Medicine
- Establish EMS and Nursing Grand Rounds
- Hire a full time Scheduling Coordinator
- Deploy Project TOUCH Virtual Reality Simulation
- Obtain a Grant to provide nursing distance learning training in:
- Wound care
- Shoulder reduction
- Splinting Extremity Injuries
